MATERIAL & MAINTENANCE

We think that birch plywood is a fantastic and beautiful material. We love the strength and appearance - its color, the grain, the layers and pattern. Birch plywood is a natural material and no sheet looks exactly the same, which makes every item unique. 

 

QUALITY

We use FSC-certified birch plywood of grade B/BB. It meets our requirements for high quality in terms of strength and appearance. B grade plywood has a high quality finish, however small knots and other minor timber defects may occur. On the BB side there might be minor repairs, but we will try our best to place them were it's least noticable. Using B/BB plywood means that we accept some minor flaws, which results in less waste because more trees can be used for production. It fits our vision of respecting and taking care of the resources.

 

TREATMENT

Our products are sold treated or untreated. For the treatment we apply Rubio Monocoat hardwax oil, which is made of natural vegetable oils and waxes. It is very durable and hardwearing, enhances the wood’s natural character and makes it repelling to dirt and moisture. The hardwax oil is lightly white pigmented (5% white), which helps to prevent the birch plywood from yellowing. Its appearance is nearly invisible, there's no “wet effect”. We also chose Rubio Monocoat since they comply with European Regulation EN 71-3 for toys, which means it’s suitable for children’s toys.

Wood is a natural material. We can not control or guarantee the exact look of our products. There will be imperfections and variations, including knots, texture and grain variations. Color and finish may vary to images on our website due to the nature of materials used. Lighting used for photographs, and your monitor/display settings, may also have an impact on slight color differences. Therefore, no representation, warranty and/or guarantee is made with respect to the precise color, luster or appearance of finishes of any product. 

Wood can respond to temperature and humidity variations by expanding and contracting. Sometimes these changes may be noticeable in the physical appearance of the product. Although every care is taken to ensure our products can handle temperature and humidity changes, the conditions of your home may affect the wood products you buy from us.

Our wood products are for indoor use only.

 

MAINTENANCE

Our wood products are not demanding when it comes to maintenance. Items treated with hard wax oil require only a damp cloth for gentle cleaning. No chemicals are recommended either for the chair or for the user, except for natural soap.

 

EMBRACE THE MARKS OF TIME

Our belief is that furniture, just like floorboards, should be shaped by time and use. It might be scratches, it might be color changes. If you are of a different opinion, you might need to treat your product with hard wax oil from time to time, especially in case of heavy wear/cleaning.
